Oh, where to begin? |
Tuesday 22 September 2020: Email to SDF community:
We are going to shortly embark on piloting the use of Linkedin Learning. So looking at the potential of 17,000 titles it’s a bit daunting and as a potential curator role, we would like to steer staff to the good titles. Like Goldilocks in the house of the 3 bears, there are some that are not the right fit, or too America orientated, or too private sector orientated etc, “and some that might be just right”. The response: Grateful thanks to the great and generous response from colleagues from across the SDF. I have collated the response into sage advice, recommendations for courses to preview and a finally a couple of screenshots of collated collections. |

| National Training Services Framework |
HEI procurement units have regional consortiums to improve their buying power.
A quick investigation identified that the Midlands Universities Purchasing Consortium (MUPC) folded in 2004 (see link). The Midland Universities then joined either the North East or Southern Consortiums
MSDP member of the NEUPC are Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Loughborough, Nottingham Trent,
MSDP members of the SUPC are Warwick, Wolverhampton, UEA, Oxford Brookes, Nottingham, Northampton, Newman, De Montfort, Cranfield, Coventry, Birmingham City, Aston,
The NEUPC have initiated on behalf of all the regional consortiums a National Training Services Framework (see the following links)
What does this mean for MSDP: We can avail ourselves of the services of these training providers (especially their standard offer) and should get these at preferential rates (less than publicly quoted).
We don’t need to go through the same tender requirements (but it would always be wise to check). We are not restricted in any way to these suppliers (especially as we have many local suppliers who would not wish to go on a national supplier register). |
