Special Interest Group – Active Learning

turn ideas into realityThe SDF Active Learning Special Interest Group (ALSIG) is aimed at staff developers and L&D facilitators who have a keen interest in creating active, participatory and experiential opportunities for learners that are engaging, impactful and deliver quality learning outcomes.

We want to create a community and a space that encourages sharing of best and emergent practice, that is experimental and innovative, and that seeks to engage with and contribute to the discourse on active learning.

Meeting 3 -4 times a year, this SIG will provide a regular and interactive mechanism to:

  • Hear from a variety of guest speakers who utilise active learning methods and techniques
  • Discuss and share ideas that actively engage learners
  • Connect and collaborate with others who have a similar passion for embedding active learning in their professional practice
  • Experiment with active learning methods and techniques through peer-learning opportunities, such as active learning playgrounds

Full details of each ALSIG workshop, dates & information on how to take part will be circulated via the SDF Jiscmail.

ALSIG Enquiries: Please contact Jane Lucas, SDF Administrator – a.viva@sdf.ac.uk for any SDF Active Learning Special Interest Group (ALSIG) enquiries, or, if you would like to deliver or co-facilitate a session.
