My SDF story with Danniel Hannah

Where do you work and what is your role?

Sheffield Hallam, Leadership and Management Development Manager

When did you join the SDF?

As a member of the Exec, last November.

Why did you want to join the SDF?

I basically wanted to get out more! I think the SDF community is very special and wanted to be more involved. I haven’t regretted it.

What’s the best thing about the SDF?

It’s the connections you make and learning about all the fantastic innovations taking place across the sector

What are you working on at the moment?

a couple of new leadership programmes and planning ahead for the year

What does a typical day look like?

A very strong black coffee (a power black) followed by a laugh with the team, a couple stakeholder meetings, maybe a team event/coaching or something and then back to the emails. Ideally a bit of design, ideally not planning!

Tell us about an event that altered the course of your life/and career

Tricky this, don’t think there is that one big event…. Will have to be coming to Sheffield as an undergraduate. I now live here, work here, have married and got two kids here.

The person who has influenced you the most is

My 4 year old daughter, I sometimes feel I work for her.

Work life balance – what leisure activity you enjoy the most?

I only do one and that’s play squash on a Thursday. Although thing I enjoy most about squash is going to the pub afterwards

Something about you people would find surprising

I’ve never eaten a pear

What’s your greatest fear?

Feeling trapped

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?

Tony Benn, George Carlin, Ziggy from Grange Hill

What would your super-power be?

Go-Go Gadget arms

What’s your favourite/least favourite food?

Curry, always curry. Least favourite? I don’t like fruit frankly, don’t trust apples or bananas

What’s the worst job you ever had?

Picking lettuces at farm. Although getting spat at whilst working in a bookies wasn’t brilliant

What thing would improve the quality of your life?

Being more organised

What’s coming next for you?

Who knows.. I like the unknown
