From Burnout to Balance: Coaching Strategies for Vitality (Coaching SIG)

The next Coaching SIG Workshop – From Burnout to Balance: Coaching Strategies for Vitality – will take place on Thursday 24th October 2024 1.00 PM – 2.30 PM.

Many UK Higher Education professionals are experiencing cycles of burnout. In an era of ongoing change, uncertainty, and the need for constant innovation, coaches play a crucial role in supporting coachees minimise the risk of experiencing burnout and to learn from burnout.

The pressure of workplace challenges can cause clients, who may be at risk of burnout, to show up to coaching sessions tired, running on adrenaline, or unable to focus well. So, it is essential that coaches also know how to effectively engage with clients in these states. The workshop will provide tools to help coaches work with clients at varying stages of the burnout experience. We will explore coaching approaches: staying curious, ‘the journey to no’ and other skills that can be used to guide clients toward insight, burnout learning, and a life lived in balance. Supporting clients in these ways have numerous benefits, including improved client well-being, career development, burnout prevention and a renewed sense of vitality for a coachee.

The workshop is based on Andy McFarlane’s lived experience of coaching individuals experiencing, and being at risk of, burnout. It also draws on Andry’s lived ongoing experienced of learning to live a busy life with more balance and vitality.

We will use breakout rooms to enable wider discussions in smaller groups.

Our guest speaker is Andry Anastasis McFarlane

During the presentation, we will have breakout sessions, giving attendees the chance to discuss the topics in small groups. These discussions will then be shared in the main session to further enhance learning.

Please note this session will not be recorded
