It has been a real honour to sponsor our very first Women-Space Leadership award with the Staff Development Forum. Whilst there is no doubt that there is progress on the numbers of women reaching senior leadership levels, these gains are fragile. Discrimination remains significant especially in respect of race, class, and disability; the gender pay gap endures as does everyday sexism; and sexual and other forms of harassment are far too much of an everyday experience for far too many women. This is why it is vital we work together to change the dial so that all women flourish in their professional lives.
All our nominees and winners are doing just that through their incredible commitment, passion and integrity. What we could see was powerful and inspirational leadership drawing on the values of the Staff Development Forum. We heard of the important work that each was doing to respond to the needs of colleagues and students by creating impactful innovations that seriously make a difference. We applaud you and are so glad you are doing this important work.
Many many congratulations to all, and with a huge thanks to those of you who took the time to nominate a colleague and to our assessors for their sterling work of assessment.
Professor Christina Hughes, Founder and CEO, Women-Space Leadership.
