The SDF would like to welcome our new incoming chair of the North West Staff Developers Group, John Trantom.
We’re very excited to have John on board, joining Tracy Ellis, as between them they’ve got a real breadth of experience within Higher Education and Organisational Development that they can bring to the North-West region.
John Trantom has over 24 years’ experience in higher education working with staff, students and businesses. He is a Leadership and Development Adviser at Liverpool John Moores University and is one of a team responsible for implementing a blend of organisational development and individual learning & development initiatives. He has a particular interest, and qualifications in, coaching, mentoring and supervision. This enables John to co-ordinate a number of in-house mentoring schemes and lead a variety of ILM accredited programmes.
Having a personal mantra of ‘do it while you can’ has led to some interesting outcomes from bungee jumping to running marathons, from donating blood platelets to being a mentor through the CIPD Steps Ahead scheme. Being involved as a research participant in numerous studies has literally involved blood, sweat and (almost) tears! John perpetually looks for the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally and loves helping others to do likewise.
John is a Fellow of the Association of University Administrators (AUA) and was the driver behind LJMU’s institutional recognition through the AUA Mark of Excellence in 2018 and for successful re-assessment in 2021. He is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a Fellow of Advance HE.
If you would like to make contact with John or Tracy, you can find their contact details on the North-West region webpage
