Gary Millns
Gary is a Chartered Manager with 35 years’ experience as a trainer and coach, specialising in leadership, management and soft skills training. As Associate Director – Training and Development at the Aztec Group, Gary leads the Aztec Academy in developing training programmes to support employees from Induction through to Leadership roles. Gary takes responsibility for the Leadership progammes and projects to develop the Talent Agenda within Aztec.
Previously Head of Central & Eastern Europe and Director of Offshore Centres with BPP Professional Education, Gary delivered training for professional qualifications such as ACCA, ICAEW, ICSA and CMI and led Intensive courses for trainers and students in the Caribbean and China and CPD sessions across Europe.
Gary enjoys throwing the balls up in the air to see what comes down, so COVID has provided an excellent opportunity to challenge how the Academy has been engaging with the business. Working remotely has been a positive experience and the team have thrived during these challenging times: trying out new tech for interactive eLearning; redesigning training to engage audiences through remote delivery; and new, creative ideas to improve and stretch the portfolio of courses. It really has moved the L&D strategy 18 months into the future.
With a background in Hospitality, Gary still loves to cook and entertain at home. He gets regular exercise walking his Cockerpoo, Bertie around the lanes in Jersey or on the fells in the Lake District. He has an eclectic taste in music, and enjoys theatre, concerts and jazz.
