Group Representative Profiles – Meriel Box
Meriel is Head of Staff Development at the Academic Enhancement Unit at Liverpool John Moores University. She is Chair of the LGBT Equality Network and has 20 years leadership and management experience in HE developing staff and students. She is a member of Equity, the British Psychological Society and is a Person Centred counsellor.
Meriel is a Fellow of both the SDF and LFHE (Leadership Foundation for Higher Education). She is Co Chair of ODHE UK (Organisational Development in Higher Education) group. In addition to performing her strategic role at LJMU, Meriel is a consultant, coach and mentor supporting people across the sectors in leadership and development.

In January members from our regional group engaged in the annual 24 hrs CPD Retreat in Windermere. The theme centred on ‘The Student Experience’. A review of the event was featured in the SDF Spring Newsletter.
A mini conference was held in January in Manchester as part of the SaHOOTS SDF flagship project. Academic and professional services delegates came from a range of HEIs. Guest speaker, Tim Westlake, Director, Student Experience, Manchester University provide useful insights.
In March our regional meeting included a demonstration of Sim-Uni developed by pixelfountain and Manchester University www.sim-uni.co.uk
NW members attended the SDF Spring Conference in April and were delighted that an SDF Fellowship was awarded to Helen Walker from Huddersfield University and an Honorary Fellowship awarded to Sally Wilson formerly of Edge Hill University and now an independent consultant and a member of the SaHOOTS Steering Group.
